Michael Beale can't escape Rangers pressure as Kenny Miller expects 'big' Champions League response

dailyrecord.co.uk

Kenny Miller has warned Michael Beale he can't escape the Rangers pressure after an opening day defeat to Kilmarnock. The Light Blues are already playing catch-up in the title race after Celtic won 4-2 in their lunchtime kick-off against Ross County, before Brad Lyons’ sunk Beale’s boys with a second-half winner for the hosts in the evening game at Rugby Park.

Rangers now welcome Servette to Ibrox in the first leg of their Champions League third round qualifier. Failure to progress and keep their group stage hopes alive will only see the pressure on Beale mount after falling at the first Premiership hurdle.

But Miller expects to see a big response from this new-look Rangers slide, up front especially after spending big money on the likes of Danilo, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers.

The latter two started in Ayrshire but misfired, although Miller believes things will come good in Govan. “There's always pressure in Glasgow, whether it’s on the green side or the blue side," he told Sky Sports. "Unfortunately for Rangers over the last couple of seasons, it’s felt more on them. “The fans won’t be happy about that start Celtic got off to a good start again under Brendan Rodgers and Rangers have slipped up on day one so already you're playing catch up.
