Martin McDonagh and Daina Moorehouse each progressed on day one of the Olympic qualifiers at the E-Work Arena in Busto Arsizio, Italy on Sunday.Crumlin super-heavyweight McDonagh defeated the experienced Ferely Ali Feliz of the Dominican RepublicTh U-22, Senior and Elite Irish champion won via a unanimous decision to advance to a final-32 clash with Turkey's Yusuf Acik on Wednesday.Moorehouse won every round against Vietnam's Thi Tam Nguyen in their fight on Sunday evening, as the Wicklow native set up a last-32 fight with Venezuela's Tayonis Cedeno on Friday afternoon.There was disappointment for Moorehouse's fellow flyweight Sean Mari, as the Monkstown fighther was beaten by Petre Cosmin Girleanu of Romania.Ireland has eight boxers at the tournament and should any reach the semi-finals, they will be guaranteed a place at the Paris games.Looking to follow in the footsteps of McDonagh and Moorehouse will be Tokyo bronze medalist Aidan Walsh (71kg), Jennifer Lehane (54kg), Jude Gallagher (57kg), Grainne Walsh (66k) and Kelyn Cassidy (80kg).Five Irish boxers have already secured their places in Paris at the European Games last summer - Kellie Harrington, Aoife O'Rourke, Michaela Walsh, Jack Marley and Dean Clancy.
