Boss Andy Drury expects new signing Eddie Dsane to be a good addition to his Margate squad. Forward Dsane, who this week joined from Isthmian Premier rivals Horsham, made an instant impact on Tuesday, netting twice in a 5-0 Kent Senior Cup win over Isthmian South East Faversham.

Another recent arrival, Korrey Henry, got the other three Margate goals at Salters Lane having made his debut off the bench in their weekend 5-2 defeat to Enfield at Hartsdown Park. “Eddie is one we identified a few weeks ago as someone we’d like to get and we’ve managed to get him over the line,” said Drury on 25-year-old Dsane who started out with Crystal Palace. “He offers something a little bit different to Ben [Greenhalgh, Margate's captain] and James Bessey-Saldanha who we have got.

He’s a bit more direct, has a bit more pace and can stretch teams. “He’ll be a good addition for us.” It was a good evening’s work for Gate, who will play Isthmian South East Sheppey at home in the next round, at Faversham and Drury was pleased with what he saw.

He said: “The boys did everything that I asked them to do out there. “We kept the ball and we moved it quickly. It was always our plan to tire them out, get some more space in the last half-hour and score some goals. “It was a pleasing run-out for the boys.” While Faversham predominantly used under-23s players, Margate's side was much stronger.
