Former Manchester United youngster Jacob Carney is back at the club on trial. Carney was named on the bench for the Under-21s game against Leeds on Friday night and the Manchester Evening News understands the goalkeeper is on trial after his contract expired with Sunderland.
Sources have indicated that Carney has impressed during his trial period so far. The 22-year-old left United in the summer of 2021 to relocate to the North East and he spent two years at Sunderland.
Carney had loan spells with non-league sides Stocksbridge and Brighouse Town and Portadown during his time at the club. Kovar joined Bayer Leverkusen earlier this week and Mastny joined his former club Vysocina Jihlava. Carney signed his first professional contract at Old Trafford in May 2020 after progressing through the academy set-up.
