Manchester United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup last night after losing 3-0 at home to Newcastle. Erik ten Hag's side ended their defence of the trophy with a dismal defeat at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock.
The Dutchman made seven changes from the side that lost on Sunday but there were no excuses, with Newcastle also much-changed and far better.
United fans were happy to see Aaron Wan-Bissaka named in the matchday squad for the first time since September, the right-back having suffered a hamstring injury in the 3-1 defeat against Brighton.
But that news came alongside the absence of Raphael Varane, with Ten Hag explaining his absence was due to illness. All eyes now turn to Saturday lunchtime and United's trip to Fulham.
