Manchester United have have been in a bad habit in recent years of doing their transfer business late in the summer. The club was guilty of this as recently as last year, with Tyrell Malacia the only new recruit on the plane to Thailand and Australia.
The pre-season tour cannot be underestimated when it comes to building a team spirit. Luke Shaw was well aware of how important it is and made his feelings clear to United about making sure they get their business done early this summer.
He told Sky Sports in May: "We have to be challenging for the title with this team. "With the direction this manager is going under, I’m sure we’re going to make new signings, big signings this summer.
So hopefully we can get them done as quickly as possible so they're in for pre-season. The transfer window is in full swing and United have already got their hands on two players, with Mason Mount and Andre Onana through the door at Old Trafford and Rasmus Hojlund set to follow.
