Manchester United fans are delighted with Erik ten Hag’s decision to make Bruno Fernandes the new club captain with some championing him as the best signing since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.
The Portugal star takes over from Harry Maguire, who was stripped of the armband on Sunday. Fernandes was the de facto captain when Maguire was not selected to play throughout last season, having done so 42 times in all, and was the favourite to land the role.
He is set to lead United out as the main club skipper for the first time on Saturday when the Reds take on Arsenal to begin their pre-season tour of the US.
Fernandes has netted 64 times and tallied 54 assists in 185 outings since his arrival in January 2020, enacted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
