Manchester United have confirmed the signing of midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea in a deal worth an initial £55million. Mount has signed a five-year deal with the option of a further year after undergoing a medical at Carrington on Monday.
United agreed a deal with Chelsea last week that could also see them pay £5million in add-ons. United had three bids rejected for Mount before coming to an agreement with the Blues and it is understood the add-ons are heavily dependent on future success and the club winning trophies.
Erik ten Hag wanted to strengthen his midfield this summer with the addition of a younger, energetic player and made Mount his top priority, with the 24-year-old out of contract at Stamford Bridge in 2024.
