La Liga is reportedly planning to take Barcelona's league fixture against Atletico Madrid to Miami in December. Officials are said to be hopeful that FIFA will approve the plan, which would mark the first time a match in Europe's major leagues is played abroad.
This decision has often been mooted in England, with clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal having huge followings in the United States.
But any potential plan for United and other top-flight clubs to play stateside wouldn't be without controversy, and it's easy to see why.
One of the appeals of English football is the atmosphere generated by home and away fans in iconic stadiums. Playing at a neutral venue in America would completely eradicate that.
