Manchester United could consider moving for Brentford striker Ivan Toney if the player impresses for England during the international break, according to transfer insider Dean Jones. Erik ten Hag oversaw a busy summer window at Old Trafford but failed to strengthen his striking options, so the club will likely continue monitoring targets.
The 26-year-old has made a rapid start to the 2022-23 campaign and sits on a record of five goals and two assists from the opening seven Premier League games.
That form has now been rewarded by England manager Gareth Southgate, who called Toney up to his latest squad ahead of Nations League clashes with Italy and Germany.
After the news, Brentford manager Thomas Frank revealed he was ‘very pleased’ for his star striker and that Southgate allowed him to break the news to Toney.
