Manchester United have always wanted to sign a new centre-forward and could still do so after Cristiano Ronaldo‘s request to leave the club, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 37-year-old is said to be unhappy at Old Trafford after the Red Devils’ failure to qualify for the Champions League and has reportedly asked for a transfer.

The Telegraph recently reported that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly will ask Thomas Tuchel whether the former European champions should make a bid for Ronaldo this summer.

The above comes after The Athletic claimed that Chelsea were considering a move for the Portugal international after Boehly held talks with his agent Jorge Mendes last month.

Ronaldo only joined United last summer and has just under a year left on his contract. However, the former Juventus star is thought to be keen on leaving Old Trafford for a second time due to a lack of Champions League football. Barca agree De Jong transfer!?
