Manchester United are ‘considering’ a move for Cody Gakpo and they have been boosted in their pursuit as the PSV Eindhoven star would be ‘attracted’ to a Premier League switch amid links to Old Trafford, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Back-to-back defeats at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford has resulted in the Red Devils making a woeful start to Erik ten Hag’s reign, but the Dutchman could strengthen his squad ahead of the September 1 deadline.
According to The Telegraph, Manchester United have added Gakpo to their list of targets with ten Hag keen to bolster his attacking options.
The report suggests the 23-year-old has emerged as a target after the Red Devils ended their pursuit of Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic, but a bid of £35million could be needed to persuade PSV into selling one of their key men.
It is understood that ten Hag, who shares the same agency as Gakpo, sees his fellow countryman as a long-term solution to the lack of quality options he has in the forward department.
