Manchester United have been told by two former players that they could end up with a pairing of Angel Gomes and Kobbie Mainoo - a duo that Man City boss Pep Guardiola would love to have.
In a move now that could strike fear into the City boss, Erik ten Hag's side have been linked with a swoop for Gomes. The 22-year-old left United in 2020 to join Ligue 1 outfit Lille and has shone since his move, even earning his first senior England caps during the recent international break.
While United are believed to be looking to secure the youngster's services once again, club legend Nicky Butt believes the former Red Devil is that promising that he could walk straight into Guardiola's side.
