Cristiano Ronaldo has lost out to Thierry Henry in a YouGov poll which asked more than 1,000 football fans to select the greatest ever Premier League player.
The survey, which was conducted in association with Betfair, also asked supporters which goal and moment were the best in the competition’s history, as it approaches its 30th year.
Henry gained 15 per cent of the vote while Manchester United legend Ronaldo came in at second, with those aged 45-54 choosing him more than any other player.
The Portugal captain came ahead of Alan Shearer, Old Trafford icon Eric Cantona and Steven Gerrard, who make up the top five.
