Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries after Piccadilly Gardens attack

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was attacked in Piccadilly Gardens in the early hours. Greater Manchester Police confirmed police patrols in the areas around the gardens in Manchester city centre have been stepped up as a result.

The man, 27, was rushed to hospital from the scene with injuries described by police as 'serious', but not believed to be life-threatening.

The force said officers and emergency services were called to reports of an assault in Piccadilly Gardens at around 1.15am on Wednesday morning.
