Man rushed to hospital after being knocked down by police car

A cyclist was taken to hospital after being knocked off his bike by a police car in Salford. The crash happened on Belvedere Road, near the junction with Almond Close, at around 6.15pm last night (Saturday).

Police, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene. The marked police car was responding to an emergency call when it collided with the cyclist, police said.

Enquiries into the crash are ongoing. Following the crash yesterday, officers closed off a stretch of Belvedere Road. Nearby residents reported a number of fire engines as well as police and an ambulance crew at the scene.
