Manchester City have apparently refused to rule out an exit for Kalvin Phillips before the transfer window shuts on Friday. The midfielder has found game time hard to come by and boss Pep Guardiola is said to have been underwhelmed by the pivot’s standards.
The player himself wants to stay and fight for his place but the arrival of Mateo Kovacic, and possibly another midfielder, makes his task harder.
The likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool have been linked although speculation has cooled over the past month. However, the exit door is very much still ajar.
That’s according to the Athletic, which says Phillips - who is yet to play this season after making just 21 appearances and four starts last term - is yet to receive an offer from a club he fancies.
