Pep Guardiola has demanded that the Premier League charges against Manchester City be resolved as soon as possible. The Premier League announced in February their belief that the Blues have broken over 100 rules over more than a decade, with the most serious offences relating to nine years of misrepresenting their finances.
City expressed their surprise at the decision at the time and are confident that they can clear their name. However, experts have predicted it could take between two and four years for such a complicated case to be resolved given the unprecedented nature of the charges.
While the legal battles progress - with reports last week that City could have caused further delay to proceedings - Guardiola and his team have continued their domination of English football by claiming their fifth title in six years. Guardiola accepted at the time of the charges that it would take a long time, but after seeing the narrative around his team has decided a quicker verdict would be much better regardless of the decision. "What I would like is if the Premier League and judges could make something as soon as possible then if we have done something wrong everybody will know it, and if we are like we believe as a club for many years in the right way then the people will stop talking about that," he said. "We would love it tomorrow, this afternoon better than tomorrow.
