Man charged with murder of much-loved dad from Greater Manchester

A murder investigation is underway following the death of a man from Greater Manchester in Leeds. Ian Aspinall died in hospital yesterday (Thursday) after an alleged attack on Sandford Road in Leeds.

He was taken to hospital from the scene in a critical condition but sadly died of his injuries. A murder probe was launched by detectives.

Andrew Weston, 44, of Sandford Road, Leeds, has been charged with his murder. Join our WhatsApp Top Stories and Breaking News group by clicking this link. He was remanded into custody ahead of an appearance at Leeds Magistrates' Court today.

Ian was originally from Standish in Wigan, his family said. The 50-year-old was a pupil at Standish High School and was popular in the local area.
