Man charged with drink driving after child hit by car

A man has been charged with drink driving after a child was hit by a car in Wythenshawe. Police were called to Simonsway at around 6.30pm on Friday (2 September) to reports of a crash between two cars which resulted in a child being struck.

The girl was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, Greater Manchester Police confirmed. A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and has since been charged and bailed. "This was involving two cars that collided with each other before hitting a female pedestrian thought to be a child.
