Senuran Muthusamy was the hero for South Africa A on the first day of the first unofficial Test against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on Monday.The left-arm spinner ended with 7/123 as SA A bowled out their Sri Lankan counterparts for 325 in 83 overs.The hosts were off to a solid start as Lasith Croospulle and Lahiru Udara put on 66 for the first wicket before Kwena Maphaka removed Udara (42).
Muthusamy struck next as he took the wickets of Nuwanidu Fernando (10) and Kamindu Mendis (28), but not before the Sri Lankans approached the 200 mark, with Croospulle proving a thorn in South Africa's side.Tristan Stubbs claimed the wicket of Sri Lankan skipper Nipun Dhananjaya (3), but Muthusamy removed Croospulle for a well-played 98.
The Sri Lankan tail wagged significantly as Ramesh Mendis, batting at No 8, scored 78.He eventually fell to Muthusamy, along with Janith Liyanage (1), Lasith Embuldeniya (15) and Dilshan Madushanka (4), while Maphaka added the wicket of Lakshitha Manasinghe (4) to end with 2/43.The SA A team, led by Tony de Zorzi, won the ODI series 2-1.
