The President of the Spanish FA Luis Rubiales has RESIGNED from his post after mounting pressure on his position. It comes after the Royal Spanish Football Federation chief was heavily criticised for kissing Spain star Jennifer Hermoso after their Women's World Cup final win over England last month.
Rubiales had faced calls from across the game in Spain and abroad to step down from his post, with clubs in La Liga joining the Spanish national women's football team in issuing statements to that effect.
Now, in an interview with Piers Morgan, the supremo admits he will step down from his duties. It comes after the Spaniard was was provisionally barred from football activity for an initial 90 days by FIFA while the governing body investigated the incident.
Hermoso revealed she did not consent to the kiss that sparked widespread outrage. Rubiales gave the news in an interview with Morgan before releasing a statement on social media that read: "Today at 9:30 p.m.
