Louth opt to withdraw from O'Byrne Cup game vs Wexford

The O'Byrne Cup fixture between Wexford and Louth will not take place after the Wee County opted not to play the fixture.A statement from Leinster GAA this morning confirmed the game, which was due to take place in Hollymount in Wexford, is not going ahead.They did not give a reason for the cancellation.The two sides are unable to qualify for the semi-finals after results so far in the competition, meaning the game is a dead-rubber.RTÉ Sport understands Wexford were willing to play the match as part of their preparations for the upcoming league campaign.With it being a midweek fixture, a number of players having upcoming Sigerson Cup matches, exams, as well as work commitments, Louth have decided not to take part and will give Wexford a walkover.Westmeath face Kildare, Laois take on Carlow, Meath play Longford and Dublin host Offaly in the remaining fixtures which will decide the last four in the competition.
