The Northern Lights have returned to skies in the UK tonight (Monday, Fenbruary 27), for second night running.The My Aurora Forecast app says auroral borealis activity is expected to be high over the next hour.

Photos of the phemonema in Scotland tonight are being shared on social media. And TV personality Rylan thinks he's seen them in Essex.

He tweeted: "Ok I can’t believe I’m saying this but my entire life I’ve wanted to see the northern lights…. Not the best pic but this is from my ACTUAL house in ESSEX 5 mins ago.

I think I’ve caught it?!?"They have also been seen as far south as Somerset, and in Cheshire. It comes after there were rare sightings of the aurora borealis further south in the UK and Ireland on Sunday night.
