LIVE: Man City's Benjamin Mendy set to go on trial accused of sexual offences against two women

Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy is due to go on trial at Chester Crown Court accused of sexual offences. Mr Mendy, 28, is accused of raping one woman, and attempting to rape another.

He has pleaded not guilty. The alleged attempted rape of Woman One said to have occurred in October 2018, while the alleged rape of Woman Two is said to have happened in October 2020.

Judge Steven Everett, the Honorary Recorder of Chester, is set to oversee the trial, which is expected to last for up to three weeks.
