The M60 has been closed in both direction due to a police incident this evening (October 16). The motorway is currently shut between junction 22 for Oldham and junction 23 for Ashton-under-Lyne.
Diversions are in place and police and traffic officers from National Highways are on scene assisting with traffic management.
The nature of the incident is not yet clear. READ MORE: Manchester faces a £41m 'cliff edge', and it's only getting worse However, the closure is causing queues back to junction J24 for Denton Island for traffic heading anticlockwise, and back to junction 21 for Hollinwood for traffic heading clockwise.
