LIVE: Huge queues and HOUR delays on M6 with lanes closed off - latest updates

Long queues are forming on the M6 this morning due to multiple breakdowns. Two lanes have been closed off on the southbound carriageway between junction 27 and 26 near Wigan due to a broken down lorry in the roadworks area.

Congestion is building. A tweet posted by National Highways said: "NEW INCIDENT #M6 southbound between J27 #Wigan and J26 #M58 2 lanes (of 3) closed due to a broken down lorry in the roadworks 30 minute delay and 4 miles of congestion. "Free recovery en-route.
