When Leicester City signed Wesley Fofana two years ago, they had to have had an inkling this would happen. Back when their bids for Fofana were being rebuffed by Saint-Etienne’s boss at the time, a stubborn-as-ever Claude Puel, the defender was dotting clues around his social media profiles that he was quite keen on leaving the French club and moving to City.
There was a portion of the Saint-Etienne fanbase who thought Fofana was doing it all for a laugh, and that he was aware of rumours linking him away and was choosing to spend his free time teasing City supporters, only to let them down when he stayed put.
And then, a few days later, he did a big interview with L’Equipe pleading with Saint-Etienne to let him move to the King Power Stadium.
A deal went through eventually. If he has done it before, he is capable of doing it again. The centre-back removed the words ‘Leicester City’ from his social media profiles on Tuesday, liked a few suggestive tweets and posted a few provocative pictures on Instagram.
