The 31-year-old put in a sensational midfield performance as City ran riot against their local rivals in a 6-3 win, a score line that did not even do justice to their utter dominance in the match.

Ronaldo, 37, was an unused substitute during the derby defeat, with Erik ten Hag claiming he did not bring the Portuguese forward on as a mark of respect for his career. "I wouldn't bring him in because out of respect for Cristiano, for his big career," Ten Hag said in his post-match press conference. "And the other thing was the advantage I could bring Anthony Martial, he needs the minutes but I don't want to point it out like that."
