Kaoru Mitoma 'flattered' by Celtic transfer interest as Brighton superstar reveals why it had to be a no

Emerging superstar Kaoru Mitoma admits he gave a transfer to Celtic real thought before seizing on the chance to join Brighton.

The 25-year-old has been a revelation with the English Premier League upstarts and has thrived under both Graham Potter and his highly-rated successor Roberto De Zerbi.

Mitoma states interest from Ange Postecoglou upon his Celtic arrival was flattering, however, he admits the chance to compete in the world's best league proved too much to turn down.

Speaking to Optus Sport, the Japan international said: “I was flattered, but also I knew that the Premier League has the highest level of football in the world.
