Joint-head coach Roland Edge thinks Folkestone Invicta can mix it with anyone in Isthmian Premier ahead of the visit of free-flowing Lewes

Folkestone can mix it with anyone in the league - regardless of their style of play. Invicta suffered a 2-1 loss at Aveley last weekend, having beaten fellow title-chasing Isthmian Premier team Bishop’s Stortford a week earlier.

While they are both strong and organised sides, Folkestone face a different challenge altogether this Saturday against free-flowing Lewes.

But Invicta joint-head coach Roland Edge said: “I don’t think we have a favoured style. “We recruited well in the summer. With the physical side against Stortford and Aveley, we have been able to match them. “We’re well equipped to deal with both styles but everyone needs to do their jobs.” When the teams met at Lewes in November, the hosts won 3-2, with ex-Folkestone frontman Joe Taylor bagging a brace.

But Edge is keen to focus on his side’s strengths. “They try to all get on the ball and play through Joe,” he explained. “Everybody knows that. “It’s about us executing what we do and putting our own game onto them.
