Jimmy Thelin tells Aberdeen title tipsters to look at the calendar after bold Alan Shearer shout

dailyrecord.co.uk

Jimmy Thelin has told those tipping Aberdeen as title contenders: "We’ve won nothing yet." The Dons boss is proud his team has the last remaining 100 per cent record of all Europe’s major leagues.

But Thelin is adamant it will mean nothing if they don’t extend it against Hearts at a sold-out Pittodrie on Sunday. The likes of Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has talked up the Dons as title challengers but the Swede is warning against getting carried away when we are only just into October.

He said: “I can understand the discussion but how many games do we have left in the league now? “So you see there are a lot of points left. “It is really early and we are not focusing on that.

We aren’t focusing on that. We can only focus on being better and trying to play the games and now what is happening in May.

India women's head coach Amol Muzumdar exhorted the side to push behind the "hurt" of the T20 World Cup and regroup for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, beginning in Ahmedabad Thursday. "It'll be an understatement to say that we were disappointed from the World Cup, as the team and the players have been hurting. But we need to gather ourselves and look at the positives that we have done in the last 10 months as a group," Muzumdar told the media on the eve of the first one-dayer here.
As India collapsed to 46 all out in the first Test against New Zealand, former India cricketer Manoj Tiwari criticised not only India's selection, but also the apparent lack of common sense in certain decisions taken by the team. Tiwary criticised captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir, emphasizing that their decision to bat despite an entire day being washed out due to rain as a bizarre decision. He also critiqued Gambhir further for not being able to guide Rohit Sharma in his selection process.
New Zealand won a Test in India for the first time in almost 36 years, beating the hosts in the opener of three-match series in Bengaluru on Sunday. The visitors reaped rewards after dismissing India for a record-low total of 46 in the first innings. New Zealand had replied to India's first innings with 402 then dismissed India for 462 in their second innings. The visitors then chased down 107 with eight wickets to spare, thanks to an unbeaten partnership of 75 between Will Young and Rachin Ravindra.
