Following India's loss to Australia in the summit clash of World Test Championship, skipper Rohit Sharma backed the idea of three finals for the mega event.

In the WTC Final, Australia defeated India by 209 runs in the final to claim their maiden World Test Championship title. The game was dominated by the Pat Cummins-led side for the majority part and India barely had their moments of joy.

After the match, Rohit said that a three-match series would be ideal for the next WTC cycle. "I would like to play the 3-Test match series for the WTC Final.

We worked hard and we fought but we played just one game. I think a three-match series would be ideal in the next WTC cycle," Rohit said in the post-match press conference.

The countdown for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 has begun, with India looking to end the excruciating wait for an ICC title, having last lifted one in 2013. It was under MS Dhoni's leadership in 2011 that India had last tasted success in the 50-over format. However, there remain a few differences between the Indian squads in terms of the type of batters that are their in the team. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, having seen and guided the team, doesn't feel the current opening pairing of Rohit SHarma and Shubman Gill will be used by the management in the mega event.
Commenting on the squad selected by India for the three-match ODI series against West Indies, legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that a new captain should have been handed over the duty to lead the side in the series. For the ODIs that will be played on July 27, July 29 and August 1, Team India have named regular skipper Rohit Sharma to lead the side. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has been chosen as the vice-captain. Harbhajan opined that India should have selected Hardik as the captain for the series instead.
Skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about his team's mindset and strategy after India got thrashed by Australia by 209 runs on Sunday in the World Test Championship final at The Oval. India were chasing a whopping total of 444 and were bundled out for 234 on Day 5, with Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland scalping four and three wickets respectively. This loss deprived Team India of winning another ICC trophy and their decade-long wait continues. India won their last ICC trophy under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, when they lifted the Champions Trophy in 2013.
India have been fined 100 percent and Australia 80 percent of their match fees for slow over rates in the World Test Championship final, the International Cricket Council said Monday.
Sunday turned out to be nightmare for Team India as they faced a 209-run defeat against Australia on Day 5 of the World Test Championship final at The Oval. Chasing a whopping total of 444, Team India needed 280 runs to win on the final with seven wickets in hand. However, Australia's bowling attack completely dominated the Rohit Sharma-led side and bundled them out for 234. After the match ended, India skipper Rohit Sharma opened up on the controversial dismissal of opening batter Shubman gill on Scott Boland's delivery on Day 4.
Now for the Ashes. Australia secured the first and biggest (physically) of the two trophies they hope to bring home with them from England by wrapping up victory over India in the World Test Championship final, winning in the end by an emphatic 209 runs after a performance that, for all the penultimate-day catch-related micro-controversy, demonstrated unarguable superiority.
