Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has claimed that while receiving the 'hairdryer treatment' from Sir Alex Ferguson was not nice, he understood why his manager was taking that approach.
This week saw Ferguson inducted to the Premier League Hall of Fame alongside his rival Arsene Wenger. While his success at United is unlikely to ever be matched, the legendary Scot was known for his infamous critique of players known as the 'hairdryer treatment'.
In the recent Overlap interview with Gary Neville, in partnership withSky Bet, the current PSV Eindhoven manager opened up on what it is like to be on the receiving end of Ferguson's wrath.
He explained: "I think Sir Alex Ferguson was very special with his consistency – you’re preparing yourself to perform not just over a season but the next game and the next game.
