Gujarat Titans sealed a 6-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 encounter on Thursday. Chasing the target of 154 runs, it was Shubman Gill who laid the foundation at the top with a score of 64 runs off 49 balls before David Miller and Rahul Tewatia finished off the chase for their side.

The winning runs were scored by none other than Tewatia, the man who loves to score runs in nail-biting contests against Punjab.

Needing 4 runs off the final 2 balls, Tewatia hit a boundary to seal two points for his side. At the end of the match, Gill put the 'love story' label on Tewatia's heroics against Punjab, having seen the all-rounder pull off such run-chases on a number of occasions against PBKS. "Wicket got a bit challenging in the end.

Was harder to hit sixes with the old ball. It's a big ground. Was important to keep hitting the gaps, run as hard as possible.

It was a high-scoring match at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as quickfire half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav helped Mumbai Indians (MI) seal a six-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS). With this win, MI has climbed to the sixth spot, with five wins and four losses, aggregating 10 points. PBKS also has a similar win-loss record but is in seventh due to a lower net-run-rate.
Ishan Kishan's stylish 75 off 41 balls was complemented by Suryakumar Yadav's 360 degree effort that fetched 66 off 31 balls as Mumbai Indians powered to a six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in an IPL match, on Wednesday. Uncapped Jitesh Sharma (49; 27b) matched T20 specialist Liam Livingstone (82 not out; 42b) in flair and flamboyance as the duo stepped up in style in the back end to propel Punjab Kings to a fighting 214/3 after Mumbai Indians opted to bowl. But Ishan was at his furious best in a 41-ball 75 (7x4, 4x6), while Suryakumar Yadav batted with his usual flair in a 31-ball 66 (8x4, 2x6) to make a mockery of 200-plus chase, winning with seven balls to spare.
Five-time champions Mumbai Indians' class and pedigree will once again be tested when they take on an unpredictable Punjab Kings in a crucial Indian Premier League match in Mohali on Wednesday. A win will give MI the much-needed push on the points table, while a loss will see them slip further and chart a familiar course like the previous edition. MI had finished 10th and last in the previous edition. The Mumbai team is currently placed seventh with eight points from eight matches and things are not looking great for Rohit Sharma's side.
Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was left ruing the four-wicket defeat to Punjab Kings in their own den, saying the bowlers need to be more aware of the situation and also indicated that the execution was probably "bad". CSK had a good chance of victory after posting 200 for four at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, thanks chiefly to another Devon Conway special of unbeaten 92, but the Shikhar Dhawan-led side hit the winning runs off the last ball to silence the yellow brigade on Sunday. "We lost it in a couple of overs in the middle. You need to be aware what you need to bowl and be clear because the batters will be going for it (big hits). (Matheesha) Pathirana bowled well but other than that, we need to see if the plans were wrong or the execution was bad," said Dhoni.
Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings are all set to take on Punjab Kings in their next IPL 2023 match on Sunday at Chepauk. The MS Dhoni-led side will be coming to this clash after facing a 32-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals but they will be favorites in the match against PBKS. CSK are dealing with the injury concerns of Deepak Chahar and Ben Stokes but have managed the proceedings well as youngsters like Tushar Deshpande, Matheesha Pathirana, and others are contributing well. There are chances that CSK might go ahead with their same side against PBKS.
