Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma wouldn't be blaming anyone if Mumbai Indians don't make it to IPL play-offs despite their facile victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their final league game here on Sunday. Rohit scored a half-century and shared a century plus stand for the second wicket with Cameron Green, who scored his maiden IPL hundred as MI cantered home by eight wickets. Despite 16 points with eight wins, RCB's rain-affected evening match against Gujarat Titans will decide MI's fate, as an abandoned game or Faf du Plessis's team's defeat is the only way forward for Rohit's men.
Cameron Green's magnificent maiden century (100*) and Rohit Sharma's half century powered Mumbai Indians to a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last league match of the IPL at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Mumbai knocked off the target of 201 with 12 balls and eight wickets to spare to accumulate 16 points from 14 matches. But their fate will be decided after the match in Bengaluru -- which is experiencing rain -- between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans later in the day.
Playoff aspirants Mumbai Indians take on SunRisers Hyderabad in their last match of the league phase of this season's Indian Premier League (IPL). With one playoff spot remaining, MI need nothing less than a win to keep up the pressure on fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who will be in action later on Sunday at home to Gujarat Titans. With four wins and two defeats, MI have certainly taken full advantage of their homeground, something that Rohit Sharma's men would want to continue as they also have the final opportunity to improve their Net Run Rate (NRR).
Defending champions Gujarat Titans, having qualified for the playoffs already, continue to rule the charts at the top with 9 wins in 13 matches (18 points). They are followed by Chennai Super Kings (15 points) and Lucknow Super Giants (15 points). Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets but couldn't make significant gains in the points table. They climbed up to the 5th spot in the table, one place behind Royal Challengers Bangalore who are yet to play their last league game of the campaign.
Punjab Kings suffered a big blow to their playoff hopes as they lost to Delhi Capitals in an IPL 2023 game on Wednesday. With the loss, PBKS remain at the eighth place with 12 points from 13 games and a net-run-rate of -0.308. DC, who are already out of the playoff race, rose from the last spot to be placed ninth with 10 points from 13 games (NRR -0.572). Gujarat Titans are the only team which has sealed a playoff berth. Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians currently are among the top-four teams.
It was a comprehensive performance by Punjab Kings against Delhi Capitals in an IPL 2023 game. Prabhsimran Singh's magnificent maiden IPL hundred was well complemented by Harpreet Brar's four wicket haul as Punjab Kings on Saturday kept their slim play-off hopes alive with a comprehensive 31-run win over Delhi Capitals, who were knocked out of contention in the process. If Prabhsimran showed tremendous resolve during his 65-ball 103 to single-handedly power PBKS to 167 for 7, Brar (4/30) and Rahul Chahar (2/16) then spun a web to strangle Delhi's chase as the home side managed just 135 for 8, despite a sizzling 27-ball 54 by skipper David Warner.
