India's women's table tennis team made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics, making it past the Round of 16 for the first time ever in the nation's history.

India eventually lost the women's team battle to Germany in the quarter-finals, where Archana Kamath was the only paddler to have won a game.

India eventually lost the match 1-3 and bowed out of the competition. Though reaching the quarter-finals was historic in India's table tennis history at the Olympic Games, Kamath wanted more.

With there being no guarantee of a medal in the LA Games in 2028, the young paddler has decided to quit table tennis professionally and instead study abroad.

Neeraj Chopra produced a season best throw of 89.45m at the Paris Olympics 2024 men's javelin event but it was not enough to clinch the gold medal. Neeraj had to settle for the silver as Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem clinched gold with a mammoth 92.97m throw. Arshad broke the Olympic record with his second attempt and it left both fans and experts stunned. While Neeraj's best also came on the second attempt, his last four throws were all fouls. India's star wrestler Vinesh Phogat was on cusp of history in the women's freestyle 50kg category at Paris Olympics 2024, after two giant-killing victories in the Round of 16 and quarter-final. Vinesh beat two titans of 50kg wrestling: Japan's Yui Susaki and Ukraine's Oksana Livach. In the semi-final, she beat Cuban wrestler Yusneylis Guzman Lopez. However, before her final bout, Vinesh Phogat, the 29-year-old was disqualified from the women's 50kg free-style final for being 100gm overweight at the time of weigh-in. Vinesh, who was making her third Olympic appearance here, announced her retirement from the sport a day after her disqualification, saying that she doesn't have the strength to continue.
Though Vinesh Phogat still stands a chance at being awarded a silver medal for her performance at the Paris Olympic Games, India's official medal count from wrestling reads just one bronze medal at the moment. Aman Sehrawat, competing in his maiden Olympic Games, bagged a bronze medal from the event, though the general perception of Indian wrestlers' performance in the Paris Games is ordinary. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief feels the ordinary show is only because of the protests that wrestlers were involved in.
