Ianis Hagi has has sent an emotional farewell to Rangers after joining Alaves on loan. But the kind words from the Romania international have been taken by some sections of the Ibrox support that the season-long exit could become permanent.

Michael Beale had admitted to holding honest chats with the player over his game time with the playmaker keen to play more after recovering from a serious injury last season.

In their club announcement, Rangers stated that the loan spell will provide Hagi "with a fantastic opportunity for regular football having spent almost a year out through injury" with no mention of the an option for the La Liga side to make the loan permanent in the 24-year-old's contract.

Following the announcement, Hagi took to Instagram stating: "I was just a kid signing for this amazing, unique football club and my dream was to represent the club in the best way possible on the European stage and deliver trophies. "Because ultimately that's what I thought will make me fall in love with the club and make me happy.
