Hythe boss Steve Watt says his side know what it takes to reach Isthmian South East play-offs

Manager Steve Watt says there’s no side better prepared than Hythe for the Isthmian South East play-off run-in. The Cannons underlined their potential with a dominant 4-0 home win over East Grinstead on Saturday.

Jack Steventon, Jason Fregene, Frannie Collin and Ethan Smith were the scorers. Victory kept them four points off the top five, going into two games in three days against struggling sides over Easter.

Eighth-placed Hythe are at Burgess Hill on Saturday and host Faversham at Reachfields on Monday (both 3pm). Hythe’s post-Christmas surge up the table centred on a busy schedule of Saturday-Tuesday football while catching up on postponed matches.

They’ve shown they can handle games coming thick and fast and Watt hopes that will stand them in good stead over Easter, plus their ability to see out tight games. “There’s no team better prepared for what we’re up against,” said Watt. “The boys have been written off by everyone and even now we’re not mentioned as play-off hopefuls. “We’ve got more points than Sevenoaks yet people still talk about them over us.
