Erling Haaland is just unstoppable right now. Everybody knew that Manchester City were getting their hands on one of the standout talents of a generation when they signed him this summer, but even the most fanciful of optimists couldn’t have imagined him starting quite this well.
Besides, by the time that Haaland smashed his second goal of the evening past Copenhagen in mid-week, he found himself sat on a dizzying scoring record of 19 strikes in just 12 appearances.
Long gone are the premature criticisms on the back of his open goal miss in the Community Shield and in are the rounds of applause from all four corners of every stadium that he plays in.
After all, at the rate he’s going, not only will Haaland shatter Mohamed Salah’s record for the most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season, but also the overall high watermark of 34 strikes shared by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.
