If you're heading out this afternoon, you'll probably want an umbrella. Greater Manchester is set to face heavy rain today (March 23) with showers forecast for the region.

The city has already been hit by heavy downpours which have quickly made way for sunshine, and rainbows can be seen in some areas.

Downpours are expected to make way for lighter rain heading into the evening, before sunny spells and a dry night, according to the Met Office.

Some Greater Manchester residents could even see hail later tonight. The recent mild weather is expected to continue into the weekend, with highs of 12C and lows of 7C in Manchester today and Friday.
