Under-fire Chelsea boss Graham Potter claims that the situation involving the retention of Blues midfield star Mason Mount at the club is out of his hands - adding that it is 'between Mount and the club' to agree terms on a new deal.
Having joined Chelsea aged eight years of age, Mount shot to prominence in the Covid-ragged yeah of 2019/20 following successful loan spells at Vitesse and Derby County.
Becoming a key starter under Frank Lampard, Mount's eye for goal, incredible technique and work-rate saw him become a huge fan favourite at Chelsea - especially when winning the Champions League against Manchester City just one year later under Thomas Tuchel.
But despite his previously solid form for Chelsea, the he has failed to deliver this season. With Mount's contract ticking down, links to Liverpool have appeared which would do zero good for the fans' confidence in the club should he move to a huge rival.
