Gillingham have banned two more supporters following incidents during last weekend’s defeat to Newport at Priestfield. The Gills immediately issued a lifetime ban after one supporter was arrested following racist abuse directed at Newport’s Omar Bogle.

He was subsequently bailed until January. Director of operations Joe Comper has now revealed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the club has taken further action over other incidents at the League 2 game on Saturday. “After many reports from supporters, we have video footage, with audio, of two supporters making misogynistic chants,” he said. “They have been banned for a period of time, and will not be back until some sensitivity training has been done.” Comper also stated that the club are again increasing the number of Security Industry Authority (SIA) qualified security at games and have added four more cameras to the Rainham End to help provide greater coverage of potential incidents.

He also confirmed that future punishments for the Gills could include fines or a points deduction. “Going forward, we are increasing the number of SIA qualified security (which had already been increased last week) until we feel comfortable we have eradicated the problems we are encountering,” he added. “This will be at a significant cost to the club. “We have added a further four cameras on the Rainham End, giving even clearer coverage of everyone in the stand. “To be clear, we will use this addition(al) footage to continue to eject and ban anyone who risks damaging the club financially, or with a points deduction. “Finally, I would like to personally thank everyone who has come forward with evidence, witness statements or general support for the club.

I apologize to him and to you — because I lost mine in the wee hours as I wrote down «Winners.» There are 10. Which is ludicrous. Far too many games. Can you trust someone seriously who dabbles in such unserious behavior — particularly when we went 4-5 last week? And are 3 under .500? But if we go on a heater — starting with these 10 — then who's gonna have a Happy Thanksgiving? WE ARE! So let's do that. OK? All right.
