Micah Richards was preparing to launch a scathing rant on "insecure" VAR after Erling Haaland's second goal in Manchester City's 4-4 Premier League draw with Chelsea.

The Norwegian opened the scoring from the penalty spot before diverting the ball into the net from point-blank range for his seond goal.

The ball was already heading into the net and VAR was checking for the smallest of touches from Haaland, who was falling backwards as he got a decisive clip on the ball. "Did you see VAR was looking at the incident of where it touched him?," Richards asked Gary Lineker on the Rest is Football podcast. "When he was lifting his arm up as the ball crossed the line, they were still looking at it after the game.

That’s how insecure they are." READ MORE: Man City player ratings vs Chelsea as Ederson and Bernardo Silva good in Premier League classic READ MORE: Man City prove Pep Guardiola right about small clubs in thrilling Chelsea draw Lineker replied: "I mean, why?
