Scott Heard’s first Folkestone goal this season came after discussions over his lack of contributions at the top-end of the pitch, manager Andy Drury revealed.

Midfielder Heard had remarkably not scored a goal for Isthmian Premier Invicta in their 2023/24 campaign until last weekend.

But he doubled Folkestone’s tally midway through the first half in their impressive 2-0 victory at promotion-chasing Enfield Town after Tom Derry had broken the deadlock. “I did chat to him the other day,” said Drury. “He hasn’t got enough goals and he has got a few assists - but not enough. “A lot of that comes down to where he is on the pitch at certain times.

So, we’ve worked on it and that paid off.” And Drury hopes Heard can begin contributing regularly before the end of the campaign.
