Two goals in as many minutes midway through the first half ensured new-look Ashford progressed in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday.
Manager Kevin Watson’s first game in charge was a Kent derby at Hollands & Blair but his side progressed thanks to Alex Akrofi and a brace by Ian Draycott.
Ashford will now host Beckenham in the Preliminary Round on August 19. There will also be a derby between Lydd and Deal in the next round after both secured progress with clean sheets at home on Saturday.
Lydd’s first-ever FA Cup game saw them defeat Camberley 1-0 thanks to Troy Howard’s goal 19 minutes from time. Billy Munday converted a Jack Penny corner just before the hour mark to put Deal ahead against Guildford, a lead they doubled in stoppage time through Ben Chapman.
