Erik ten Hag was pleased with the impact of Manchester United's substitutes against Wolves after "bad" substitutions in their recent defeats.
Ten Hag introduced Wout Weghorst for goalscorer Anthony Martial in the 69th minute before making a triple substitution by sending on Harry Maguire, Fred and Alejandro Garnacho for Raphael Varane, Christian Eriksen and Jadon Sancho.
Varane was removed as a precaution after his first appearance in 30 days, having recovered from an ankle injury, while Garnacho scored on his return after an eight-week lay-off. Of the six players introduced across the two games, only Fred and Weghorst emerged against Wolves. "All of the subs had a good impact," Ten Hag said. "And I think it is one of the problems in the last week that the subs were bad.
