Enjoy circus fun and a close up encounter with lions at Knowsley Safari Park... but beware the baboons

It’s famous for its animal inhabitants, Knowsley Safari Park is turning its attention to hands-on activities for small humans this half term.

The Merseyside attraction - just 40 mins drive from Manchester - is hosting a ‘Seaside Carnival’ with daily displays of circus skills, coconut shies and traditional seaside entertainment - all part of the usual ticket price.

We had an enjoyable day out on Saturday (the sunshine and warm temperatures helped), where we spent most of the day learning aerial trapeze skills, watching displays and enjoying the family atmosphere.

The area close to the entrance - known as the ‘foot safari’ - has been temporarily taken over by a tent, performance area with interactive games and circus equipment, giant sand play areas, and deck chairs that allow grown ups to sit back and watch the action.
