Manchester City and England star Alex Greenwood has announced she is launching her own academy for young girls. Greenwood has made herself a household name since playing a crucial role in the Lionesses Euro 2022 win and now sees her name on the back of England shirts up and down the country.
She's now embracing her role as an inspiration for young children, and using that as a force for good, building her own legacy with her own football academy.
It comes just a week after the Lionesses stamped their legacy in the history books for good following the announcement of more than £600m in funding to allow girls equal access to sport following a campaign spearheaded by the team.
She announced the news on her Instagram: "An important week for women & women's football. Building the women's game must look long-term & I'm excited to announce the launch of the AG5 Academy, coming soon. "Football has given me so much, I now want to do my bit to help provide young girls the access to coaching & facilities to help them in their football journey." Greenwood, who recently captained the Lionesses for the first time at the Arnold Clark Cup, told MEN Sport last week how much she loves seeing young girls and boys with the Lionesses' names on the back of shirts.
