The President General of the Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA), Chief Albert Akpomudje, has confirmed that Delta State Governor, Sherrif Oborevwori, will be the special guest of honour at the the sixth Government College Ughelli (GCU) Relays.Also confirmed for the event billed to hold next week is the State Commissioner for Basic Education, Chairman (SUPEB), Chairman Ughelli North Local Council, as well as, the Delta State Sports Commission’s Director General, Mr Festus Owhojero, he said.“We have as usual reached out to notable Delta dignitaries, beginning with the state governor, to grace the sixth edition of the GCU Relays,” Akpomudje said. “In fact, we have firm assurances about their physical presence next week Saturday.
We do appreciate their having to send top officials of government as representatives in the past.”Beyond the list of top dignitaries that would headline the GCU Relays, there will be the fierce rivalry and competition by the budding athletes that will be striving to have their names etched in the GCU Relays Hall of Fame, he said.Leading the list of precocious talents that have graced the Hall of Fame is Godson Oghenebrume at the inaugural edition, followed closely by Sunday Akitan.
